skirty

This is the last week of school; I suspect that I’m more excited for summer than my boys are. But you all, I am so over making lunches. Over it!

#getdressedGap skirt from five years ago. Seriously.

I have a complicated relationship with that Gap skirt. I have to really, really be in the mood for the bow; if I’m not, it just gets in my way. Yesterday, I was totally in a big bow kind of mood, and the skirt was perfect. Plus, it has pockets. Love.

#getdressedJ. Crew linen skirt, even though it’s not officially summer yet.

My personal rule about linen is that it’s strictly for the window between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but since it’s already a million degrees here (no exaggeration) and since my brain decided about a week ago that it totally already is summer, I wore the linen today. And then spent the afternoon trying to prevent the skirt from blowing up over my head. Classy.

Tomorrow: My edited closet, skirt edition. These two have lots of friends. Of course.

Some of you have been asking about what exactly I have left after the Great Closet Cleanout of 2012.  I’ve been trying to figure out how to photograph everything, but the lighting in our actual closet is terrible and it seems awkward to just jumble my wardrobe on the bed and take a picture of the pile.

Also, the very idea of that makes me itchy.

I keep getting the same question over and over: What do you mean when you talk about a “tightly edited” closet? What I really mean is that I only have pieces that I’m actually wearing, right now (weather permitting, of course). Let’s take a peek at what’s inside my closet, shall we? Starting with the universal basic: jeans.

30 days of getting dressed

I’ll be honest with you, Internet: I was a little surprised by the response to yesterday’s post about conserving cute outfits. I don’t know why I was surprised, exactly — I really do think we’re all prone to dress (way) down when there’s nothing extra special on the calendar. What caught me off guard was the sheer number of you who are over it and are ready to start getting dressed every day.

That? Makes me super happy.

#getdressed

Not realizing what I was getting myself into, I suggested we do a 30 Days of Getting Dressed challenge. Because yay, that would be fun, right? And then a whole bunch of you, here and on Twitter and in other places, said, let’s do it! And I remembered why I really shouldn’t be allowed in my own comments section during the day.

(I’m kidding.)

So let’s do it! Let’s all get dressed, every day for 30 days! This will be fun.
