The first thing that you can do on a daily basis to help your health is pretty common sense – eat healthy. Each day you should eat a variety of whole grains, vegetables and fruits. You should also limit drinks and foods that are high in alcohol, fat, salt, sugar and calories. Eating a balanced diet on a daily basis will not only help you remain healthy, it will also help you to remain at a healthy weight.
You should also stay active. Staying active for at least an hour each day can help not just your bones and muscles but also your heart rate and breathing. Regular physical activity can also:
- Reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression
- Reduce the risk of falls and osteoporosis
- Reduce the pain from arthritis and the disabilities associated with it
- Reduce the risk of several types of cancer as well as the risk for a stroke, heart attack and type 2 diabetes

Protecting your family and yourself can also fall into the category of daily health tips. Things like the following can be done daily to make sure that you and your family stay safe and healthy.
- Be ready for any type of emergency. Have supplies on hand, make sure that you have a plan in place for different types of emergencies and stay informed.
- Avoid smoking or being around people who smoke (secondhand smoke)
- Make sure to wash your hands often to prevent spreading germs unnecessarily
- Wear safety items such as insect repellent, sunscreen, seat belts and helmets
