Happy New Year!

Yes, I realize it’s January 14th, and that the new year started two weeks ago, but it’s taken me a while to get myself together. The boys were out of school until January 7, which felt like 100 years (of joyous family time, of course!) and I spent all last week trying to get my house clean and my to-do list under control.

So today really feels like the start of the new year over here.

#getdressed

What have I been up to, other than vacuuming every single inch of carpet in my house and wiping all the counters with bleach? I started training for a half marathon on December 31; I’m running and swimming, and last week, on a whim, I went to a yoga class at my gym and it was the best thing ever. So now I’m working on my down dog and my balance, which should help with so many other things around here. Continue reading

what I’m wearing, vacation edition

We’re on vacation this week, in Breckenridge, CO, where it is cool enough to wear a sweater. In JULY. You all, I have died and gone to heaven.

We went whitewater rafting yesterday, which was even more fun than I thought it would be. Including the part where Henry almost fell out of our raft and was saved by our quick-thinking guide, who grabbed his life jacket just before he hit the water. So that was awesome.

(But seriously, so much fun.)

Tomorrow we’re going hiking and fishing — ok, I am not going fishing, but Charlie is. I hate fish. Thursday we’re rock climbing (yes, really!) and Friday we’re horseback riding. Crazy.

And for every single one of those activities, I’m showing up in full Preppie outdoors attire. Go me.

Mighty Closet

A couple of weeks ago, the always-inspiring Maggie Mason emailed to ask if I would like to do a Mighty Closet post. And of course I said yes, because yay! SO fun.

Although shooting 382 photos may have left me feeling a little crazed. GO FIGURE.

Someone needs to cut back on the coffee, clearly. Whoa.

My instructions were to shoot five outfits, including one for cocktails. I shot more than that, although I cannot remember now how many there were. 10? 50? 200??? I have no idea. It was crazy. And there were a lot of outtakes. Let’s take a look a a few of them, shall we?

Yeah, like you have a choice. Enjoy! Continue reading
