A couple of you asked about accessories; Stephanie said, “I think you should do an entire series on accessories. Must have pieces, inexpensive places to shop for jewelry, how to mix and match…” Doesn’t that sound like fun? It really does.
I’m happy to share my strategies, but I know there are more options out there. So we’re going to crowdsource this one. I’ll start…
I tend to stick with a few brands for my accessories (just like with everything else, really). My jewelry is pretty much all from Stella & Dot; their pieces are versatile and well-made and affordably priced., and their customer service is amazing. I work with the same stylist, my lovely friend Laura, all the time — she knows what I like and can make excellent recommendations about how to pair pieces, both with each other and with the things in my closet (because I wear the same clothes ALL THE TIME, see).
I’m also a big fan of scarves; a scarf is an easy way to give even the most comfy casual look a little edge. Most of my scarves come from the Gap, and most are bought at end-of-season sales, because honestly, scarves never go out of style. And then I throw them on with everything.
Yesterday it was freezing here and I was exhausted; by the time I actually got myself dressed, all I wanted to do was go back to bed. So I opted for a cozy cashmere tee and my Pixie pants — and then threw on a scarf and some glittery gold smoking loafers (both from the Gap) to dress it up a little.
There are loads of other accessory options — in the comments on yesterday’s post, Becky said, “I count patterned shoes as accessories!” To which I say, YES! Hell yes! And your bag is an accessory, too! And so are the things you wear in your hair! And your glasses! And…ok, what else is there? Hmm.
Now it’s your turn: What are your go-to accessories, and where are you shopping for them, and how are you styling them? Or, alternatively, what accessories do you wish you could find/wear/style? Help a sister out here, Internet. I know you can.
