skirty

This is the last week of school; I suspect that I’m more excited for summer than my boys are. But you all, I am so over making lunches. Over it!

#getdressedGap skirt from five years ago. Seriously.

I have a complicated relationship with that Gap skirt. I have to really, really be in the mood for the bow; if I’m not, it just gets in my way. Yesterday, I was totally in a big bow kind of mood, and the skirt was perfect. Plus, it has pockets. Love.

#getdressedJ. Crew linen skirt, even though it’s not officially summer yet.

My personal rule about linen is that it’s strictly for the window between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but since it’s already a million degrees here (no exaggeration) and since my brain decided about a week ago that it totally already is summer, I wore the linen today. And then spent the afternoon trying to prevent the skirt from blowing up over my head. Classy.

Tomorrow: My edited closet, skirt edition. These two have lots of friends. Of course.

  1. I really struggle with skirts. I am 5’4″ and have thick-ish legs. I have a hard time deciding what length skirt works best for my body type. Most make me look shorter or my legs thicker. (!!) Dresses need to be fitted at the waist and hit at my knee. For some reason, skirts don’t follow the same rule for me. I have 1 skirt and it falls about 3 inches above my knee. I’m not convinced it’s completely right but I wear it anyway. Looking forward to your skirts!

  2. In response to Kelly H-I am never sure where skirts or pants look best on me (the ankle/cropped type). I have not tried this yet but have been looking at Fashion Fit Formula as hailed by Charla Krupp. Anyone tried it????

  3. Ha! I just wrote about lunches the other day-http://www.elzabelz.blogspot.com/2012/05/monday-musing-school-lunches.html

I have a couple skirts that I have to be “in the mood” for. When I’m in the right frame of mind, I love them. When I’m not, PFFFT. Hate. Weird.
