menswear + girly = #getdressed, day two

So! Day two of 30 Days of Getting Dressed! How’s it going? Great, right? Because seriously, DAY TWO! You can do this. I know you can.

#getdressed

I got dressed for a meeting today; I opted for faux menswear because it was easy and professional. The jacket and pants are J. Crew; the blouse is Gap.

And then I added some pink shoes, to make it a little more girly. Specifically, a pair of pink cork wedges. Love.

I was also channeling my inner geek today. I’m totally smitten with my Warby Parker frames; they make wearing glasses fun again. Possibly for the first time, actually.

End of the day — stripes and wine and blurry husband. Next up: pajamas. More on that later this week.

Your turn: Did you #getdressed today? What did you wear? Let’s see it! I’m serious.

  1. I have those same wine glasses. I got dressed today…but no pics to prove it. Tan pants, green heels, black tee, pink belt and silver necklace. I was all sorts of fancy for our meeting!

  2. I am LOVING the #getdressed challenge. Although, I am such a uniform wearer that unless I’m going to the same place multiple days in a row, I’m frequently rewearing the same thing for day after day.

    • I would like everyone to start counting how many consecutive days I wear stripes and/or my J. Crew Cafe Capri pants. Because I am also all about the uniform.

  3. The #getdressed challenge is, well, a challenge. It’s making me reach back in to the depths of my closet. So far, so good. Going on a cruise this weekend. Picking clothes for that will be really fun. I’m feeling like I need to go a little outside of my element!

  4. Perhaps you have posted about your belt already but somehow I missed it?? It seems incredibly versatile – where did you find it?

    • The belt is from Target, believe it or not. And the trick is that it has holes all the way around, which means it can be sized for a huge range of outfits. I’m looking for another on like it now, in a bright color. No luck yet, sadly.

      • I totally need a belt like that but had no idea such a thing existed. I can NEVER find a belt small enough. I haven’t worn belts for years for that very reason. I just broke down and ordered one from Old Navy earlier this spring b/c it was a great price so I figured I couldn’t lose, and even though it’s small, it’s still too big. Frustrating.

  5. Love, love, love the challenge! I’m posting on instagram and I’m telling everyone about it. Seriously, the other day I wore color. COLOR! Instead of my usual black and white. I tucked in a shirt! I wore a colored belt! And all the credit goes to this challenge. Thanks, Susan!

  6. Well, I seriously considered gettng dressed today, even though I have the flu and have had it since Friday (it’s more like riding the cusp of getting the flu. Ugh). And then, two kids came home from school and got the flu all over the place. I may not get dressed for a while….

  7. I’m mostly dressed. I’m wearing capri leggings, which are not exactly real clothes… But don’t tell anyone. I had a beautiful new top in my closet so I put it on, then was going to take it off and save it… But I thought of this blog and so here I am at work, hidden in the depths of my cubicle, wearing a super cute top and feeling great! Oh, and it’s blue (not my usual black) so bonus points!

  8. I’m really enjoying the #getdressed challenge and it’s forcing me to leave my comfort zones and try new pieces together. I’m posting photos on Instagram. Today’s challenge was to create an outfit of some of my favourite pieces so that I felt confident enough to leave the house with a gigantic abcess that has popped up on the end of my nose (I’m not even kidding…this thing is taking over my face and I finally went to the doctor about it!) So far, so good!
