The holidays are coming, and soon — I know this because my Target has Christmas decorations right next to the Halloween stuff. (IT’S TOO EARLY, TARGET! KNOCK IT OFF!) While I am not ready to haul out the holly, I am starting to think about what to wear to the various events that are already filling my calendar. This year, though, I’m not shopping for new clothes; I have plenty of holiday-appropriate pieces in my closet already (in particular, a black sequined shell and a smokin’ hott pair of velvet cigarette pants). Instead, I’m going to focus on accessories.
Accessories are a terrific way to update your closet, for the holidays and beyond. A necklace or bracelet or bag can transform your look, and all of those pieces will have a life beyond that one office party (unlike a fancy dress, which often never comes out of the closet again after the event is over).
I’m a huge fan of Stella & Dot, as you already know; their pieces are affordable and well-made and can be worn day or night, with casual clothes and your dressy best. They have some beautiful new things for fall. Last week I went over to my friend Laura’s house and played with her jewels consulted her about what’s hot for the holidays. Here are a few of my favorite Stella & Dot things.

I am completely smitten by the Madeline Pearl Necklace. When I was at Laura’s house, I tried it on with a white tank top and a pair of khakis, and it was just lovely, even with my uber casual look. Laura said she’s been wearing it with a white tee and a loose gray cardi, but it would be equally great over a little black dress or a jewel tone blouse. This is a piece you can easily dress up or down, which means you really can wear it all the time.

I love this combination of bangles — Laura is modeling the Tribute Bracelet, the Harlow Bangle, and the Devi Bangles (in gold). The Tribute Bracelet is my favorite; the rose gold is lovely, and for the rest of the month, 20% of the purchase price will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Stella & Dot has also launched a great line of bags, everything from wee pouches to clutches that convert to cross-body bags. The mid sized clutches can be accessorized with pins from the La Coco line, which is a fun and easy way to change up the look of your bag. Bonus: you can wear the pins on their own, or with other La Coco pieces. How beautiful is that feather brooch? So fab.
Laura’s favorite bag is the Waverly Three Way, which is big enough to tote your iPad, and small enough to fit under your arm. This is a great piece for anyone who travels, or just needs more than one mid-sized bag. My favorite part is the lining, which is a stunning turquoise print. I like a bag with a pretty inside, because I am always digging around inside my bag. Go figure.
See something you want? Of course you do! Fortunately, Laura is ready to hook you up. Now through November 6, Laura is offering a 15% discount to Working Closet readers on any order; you can contact her at laurakriegel@sbcglobal.net to place your order.
And don’t forget the holidays are coming — you can pick up something for your sister or mother-in-law — or you can start a Stella & Dot wish list for yourself! And when your husband starts looking nervous because he has just now remembered that he needs to get you a gift, he can reach out to Laura and she will make sure you get something you’ll really love.
So what are you coveting from Stella & Dot? I want the Madeline Necklace and that armful of bangle bracelets. Someone please tell Wade. Thank you!

I think I might have to go through this site with the boyfriend. I found several things coming up that I want. There’s my birthday, Christmas, and my own money to consider here…
