Rachel is looking for help styling a sweater dress. Specifically, this dress, which is super cute:
A sweater dress is the perfect go-to piece for fall and winter; think of it as your sweatsuit alternative, as Tim Gunn would say. The top of Rachel’s dress is an open knit, so she needs something underneath it, to keep her bra under wraps. A tank is fine and will keep her covered up, but there are more interesting layering options, like a fun bow tie blouse or a striped tee. I like boots with a sweater dress, but flats are also a nice alternative. Pair them with tights, either the same blue as the dress or the same color as the shoes (for a longer leg line). Rachel can finish her look with a statement necklace or a pair of fun earrings. So easy!
Need help styling something in your closet? Shoot me an email at slw424@gmail.com. I’m here to help. (Although I’m not responsible if you wind up buying those $348 Frye boots. Just so you know.) ((But they really are beautiful, aren’t they? Yes, they are.))

I love this category, Susan! Is it new? What a genius idea. I guess this will have to do for now since I can’t fly you out to see me (and my closet) in person. Now, I will go attack my closet with “conundrum” items and send you lots of email with pics attached. You asked for it.
Jane
Thanks, Jane! Yes, this is new — and please send photos! I love doing this. Shopping for other people is always fun!
Thank you Susan! I love the striped tee and think I will look for that and put a sporty spin on the sweater dress. I read your brilliant article about cleaning out your closet and got down to some serious business last night. Talk about purging. And you know what? I feel like a new person for it. Ha! Shoes and accessories are next. Good night ~ Rachel
